Relatively significant happenings have occured in the past couple of days. Yesterday I went to a pro-shop "going out of business sale." I picked up a 5" shield cut feather chopper for $8, some muzzy bowfishing supplies for cheap, including a pretty cool reel seat. Found a Zebco 808 in my basement that will work well as a bowfishing reel. I shot the Detroit archers traditional tournament, and met Chessbum for the first time. I shot 3 rounds, and only did moderately well on the one that didn't count. Came home and found that my dad bought me a sewing machine motor for $7 so I can make a crester. Chopped a bunch of feathers. I need to hurry and make my crester because I broke 2 of my arrows at the shoot, and tore up the fletching on 2 more. And for the record, I beat Floxter on my secong round of shooting ( bad thing was he was shooting someone else's bow), and I beat Chessbum by 1 in the money shoot. The winner only beat me by about 100 in a 200 possible shoot. I think that is about all. I think I will go take another nap now.

Tox, sounds like you and the boys had a grand ol' time. Congrats on your win. Don't forget to put a dimmer switch or something similar on that crester so you can vary the speed. Guess I should try my hand at making up a crester. Not too good at such things though. I always seem to end up looking like I got that just struck by lightening look. Also gonna try those flame cresters I saw in TBM. I like the idea of wolf tracks on my arrows. As Wahya is wolf in Cherokee I'm sure it will end up being my signature.

You aren't gunna believe this but as long as we're on the subject I am thinking about making an arrow crester. My motor is a 12 Volt electric proto-type,from a 2003 chrysler minivan it runs the front windows up and down. The engineers threw away a bunch of stuff when they finished winter cold testing here in No. MN this winter.(this is what I do in the winter time). One of our mechanics turned a nice chuck for me out of alum. on his lathe and mounted it on the motor. Now all I have to do is design and build the rest of it!Gotta warm up first as it hasn't been above zero here for the last 24 hrs.I hate winter-I want to go out and shoot!!!!! Cam--(good shootin' Toxo !)

Tox,
For a few dollars you can pick up a chuck for the Bohning cresters. If your motor is one with a wheel that comes off the shaft, the Bohning chuck should work.
Trust me...it's well worth the few dollars.

Toxo and Floxter I had a bad day so as you guys read this picture the sound of violin music in the air. I missed the shoot at Detroit Archers on Saturday because of my backed up drain that caused my toilet to pour all over the floor and into the basement. The drain was still backed up Sunday and my wife says stop fooling around and call a real plumber. I agree so I say I'll call him on Monday and I still have time to go shoot with my pals Floxter and Toxo if I hurry. On the way there a foreign car spins out at a high rate of speed and heads straight for me going towards him at also a high rate of speed. With no time to hit my breaks even I swerve off the road and miss a head on collision by inches. Two hours later I'm still driving around in circles listening to the Gospell Hour on my radio(which I scaned over to from the Oldies station after my near death experience)lost, confused and looking for Floxters Detroit Archers which seemed to move since I last was there. I finally arrive to late to shoot in the competition by two and a half hours. But I am informed by a dozen smiling faces who where also rubbing there hands together that I just happen to be in time for the money shoot. Needless to say I could not hit the broad side of Detroit Archers two feet away the first round. Having warmed up I shot not to bad the second round but by then it was to late to win the much needed 100 dollars that was first prize. Now I'm not one to make excuses or seek sympathy but not only did I miss my Monday night trad league but the plumber just left my house tonight 300 dollars richer. How is that for a sad tale of woe?

That is sad Chessbum. Makes me sad I didn't give you a hug or something on Sunday.
Also for the record, only 3 people shot the youth class, and one was 11, so I don't have a whole lot to be proud of . I did GET LAST PLACE in the recurve class of the money shoot. I AM proud of that one. I kinda gave up half way through.
I am going to order the bohning chuck soon. I am not sure if I will get a dimmer switch. I can get it to spin at the right speed with a wood shim stuck in the pedal. We'll see I guess. Looks like dad is going to pay for the first batch of paint, as long as I like white, blue and silver. Where is the cheapest place to get white gasket laquer from?

Save the hug Tox I'm going kick tail at the Royal Oak Traditional Weekend and I'll be giving the hugs then. If you use the dimmer switch you may burn up that motor so you may not want to do that. I have an electric chicken turner from an old grill somewhere in my basement I have to try out. If I remember it turned slow. By the way Tox (you too Floxter) if you want to go bow fishing your welcome to join me on my boat. I will get you to the carp around June when they come in to spawn but your going to have to shoot them. I got three good spots where there are lots of carp that should add to your adventures in traditional archery.
