Hey
I was just wondering if anyone knew where to get, how much, how many, what quality for 36" cedar arrow shafts (just shafts) spined for 45-60lbs bows I am a trad shooter looking to fire flaming arrows from my longbow.
so if anyone has ANY IDEA on where to get these I would appericiate it.
Thanks

If I only knew... I'd be ordering some for my knuckledraggin' draw length. Ever thought about learning to make your own footed shafts? I've considered it myself, but am too darn lazy to git'r done.
But footed shafts is the only way I know of to get shafts that long... other than buying boards and making your own.
Come to think of it, a flaming arrow is pretty much a one shot deal, and no real need for it to be accurate, or even well matched. If you're handy, you can make some out of plain pine 2x4's. Or, if you don't want to fool with working that hard, just buy some dowels down at the hobby shop or lumber yard. I wouldn't even waste a nock on 'em. Just cut selfnocks into the back end, and reinforce them with thread wrapped under the throat and coated with glue.

I had a link to a page that had instructions and illustrations on making footed arrows. The dang link doesn't work any more. [>:][&o]

Chimo, I shoot hardwood dowels all the time. Ramin. I use self nocks and put a 1/8" pin across the dowell just below the self nock. Glue it in with titebond. Ramin is very tuff and easy to work. I can buy them here in 4 foot lengths and lots of the 3/8 ones spine 70 ponds and higher. I can get hard maple sometimes as well but they want quite a bit more money for the maple.
You could barrel taper the shafts to keep the weight down.

The other day I tried on some new duds I bought for the warmer temps of our Early Archery season , and they were pretty form fitting . When I looked in the dresser mirror I saw what looked like a Superflauge sausage that had been in the microwave just a little too long ... [
