i liked the dowel idea but then i thought about it my bow would shear them straight through and most of my buddies that wanna try this would do the same and a side from personal injury it might hurt my baby
Not likely to happen with hardwood dowels. Just make sure each one's got good grain lines running the length of the shaft then either taper them to use standard nocks or cut a primitive nock directly in the shafts and reinforce them.

I had a link to a page that had instructions and illustrations on making footed arrows. The dang link doesn't work any more. [>:][&o]
