Get the plastic vanes removed and replaced with real feathers. Vanes will not fly right. Also, you asked if a recurve needs light arrows. I shoot a 55# predator. I have played with cedar, carbon fibre and old fibreglass shafts. But my hunting arrows are made of maple, and tip the scales, to the point I don't know what they weigh. But boy do they hit hard!

I just won a new custom Pronghorn takedown reflex deflex longbow, (boy is that a mouthful). I went and got some cheap carbons and fletched them with feathers. I put a nock point on the string at a 1/4" above zero. After shooting the bow some of the fletching is (leading edge) breaking off. Does nock point affect this or am I to expect this?

62" with 55# at 28" shooting a 29" arrow.

Just for sh$ts and giggles, check your nock height again. If your nock is too low, especially if below horizontal, the fletch-end of your arrow may forced down and make heavy contact with rest and/or riser shelf.

Poluke what make and size carbons? Sounds like they may be overspined and not bending enough to clear the shelf.Try upping the point weight.Sometimes it takes quite a bit of weight depending on the arrow spine.

I got out my Bear catalog CD and did some research for you. The only years when the Grizzly was both 56" and had green glass was in 1969 and 1970. Forest Green in 69, Glade Green in 70. Also, the 69 risers were one solid hunk of shedua and the 70 risers were two pieces of shedua laminated with a thin maple strip accent stripe running the length of the riser.

The catalog does not list a brace height, but shows an overall tip-to-tip length when strung at 53".
