I like a minimum of 1" extra for broadhead clearance. Beyond that, there's really no wrong answer that I know of as long as the arrows are matched to your bow. Some leave extra length for added weight, tuning options, etc.

I have a 30" draw length and I prefer 1 1/2" of clearance between the back end of a very sharp broadhead and the knuckles of my hand holding the bow since I shoot off the shelf. This is why I prefer to shoot 32" BOP (back of point) arrows.

Draw your bow to full draw with an arrow nocked. Have someone safely standing to your side mark the arrow shaft at the arrow shelf.
