I just got an unfinished long bow. Just got done with sanding it and prepping it to put on it, which is my problem. What do I use ? I' ve read varnish, linseed oil, polyurthane, ect... It is cherry backed with hickory. If anybody can give me some advise I would greatly appreciate it. It shoots great and I want to use it this fall. Thanks

I' ve made a few longbows and I' ve found that Helmsman' s Spar urathane works as good as anything. Personally, I like the satin finish. Just make sure that you follow the recoat times. Quick and easy! Finish holds up very well too. Dick

I would use Beechwood stock finish, you can get several light coats on in a day,it completely seals, let it set for a day or two and cure. Lot of good stuff on the market these days.
Enjoy the bow
