Hand shockis directly related to deflex, length of limb, thickness of limbs, and weight of limb tips. You need to make sure the bow is braced correctly. You can adjust the brace to get a bow to shoot with its minimum amount of hand shock for its design. If you shoot a flat longbow, you will get more hand shock than a deflexed, or riser forward design. It is not uncommon for someone to find one bow more shootable than another. That is why I always tell people to try different bows, when they ask for my advice. What I like to shoot, with my style, might not be what you like with your idividual style.
