Found: Bear recurve ' Black panther hunter' 52''
I found this bow in a shed on the property I am renting. Bow is in amazing shape, near perfect. Any one know what it is?
Recurve woodgrain grip, black arms. (i dont know the vocab sorry!)
Markings include a raised silverish (pot metal?) 'Bear' logo .
Some sort of hand written mess on the grip, mabey a serial # ?
KP27695
AMO-52'' (?)
40-45 ff (not sure about the FF , looks like a signature)
Ugly metal stub in the front of grip. made of steel or brass with what looks like very coarse, soft grout packed in.
Weird to me, but seems to shoot straight and fast. any ideas what this bow is ?? will try and add pic soon....
Thanks!

KP27695 (serial number - "K" used on bows after 1970, "P" is model "Panther")
AMO-52" (it's a 52" bow by AMO standard)
40-45# poundage at 28" draw.
Here's a site with info on old Bear bows: http://www.neoreality.com/archery/goodole.htm

Thanks for the info!
I think you are right on. bow looks good to shoot, I think ill give it some more time and see if I cant get good groups.
I will look over the website you suggested, seems like it should answer any questions I have.
Thanks again!

The Black Panther is pretty much a Kodiak Magnum with different wood stain. It never shows up in Bear catalogs, that I recall. I believe it was an exclusive model made for Montgomery Wards.
