Default Tracking practice....

I was out Monday hoping to hit some squirells with the longbow. I happened on an empty pop bottle someone had left so I decided to shoot it. I missed about an inch or two low, but decided to keep it with me. Throwing it, then shooting it where it lay. On about the third or fourth try I nailed it. I was trying to pull my arrow out as the excess liquid spilled about. That's when I'd an idea for practicing tracking. Downside is that it requires two people. Fill a plastic bottle with water and dye it red, or with dark corn syrup. (I've heard corn syrup retains some of the characteristics of blood, though I'm not expert on this theory.) After you nail it, have a buddy hold it to the side and go through the woods with it whilst you're not paying attention. After a minute or two, or when the commotion stops, track the bottle. Don't forget where your bottles are though so you can take them back out of the woods with you. I don't appreciate seeing litter in the woods, and sure wouldn't want to be a contributing factor. Unfotunately I don't really shoot with anyone so I can't test this out. Have you'ns used any similar methods to this?

God bless,
Brandan
