Yep--got home yesterday, around 6:30 pm. Still not finished unpacking, still tired (had to work today). The short version is we had a ball, but didn't get a moose. There was moose and bear tracks all over the place, and lots of wolf tracks too. The weather messed us up--frost the first two nights, then HOT. Some did see moose, some saw bear, one saw a wolf, but nobody got a shot. Two in our group almost got a shot at a moose, but luck was against them--one got winded just before he got a shot, the other had a freak accident with his compound at full draw. I did get a couple of nice Spruce grouse with my longbow (thanks to Tom-TN and Texn for there help with those--they spotted those particular birds, and Tom let me have the shot that he could have easily taken), a hen and a rooster, and they are at the taxidermist. All in all it was an excellent hunt, and I plan on going back. The company was great--we'd never met some of the guys we hunted with, but we all got along like old friends. There was three of them, from MI, and they really saved our rears by getting up there and doing some scouting and then showing us the places to hunt, and even calling for us. (BTW, they were all shooting our trad bows and I believe they are hooked). Kip, if you are reading this, thanks again--you, John, and Brian really had a major role in making it a great experience. The outfitter was also top notch, and his wife kept us fed--we sure put away some groceries while we were there! Had a couple of jokes played on me while there--might tell about them later.

All in all it was an excellent hunting experience. Hope to get my pictures developed soon.

Chad

Hey Chad, glad to see you made it home safe. I thought maybe you got held up at Customs trying to smuggle blueberries across the border. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
For those of you who have never met Chad, he is a top notch fella. Tex'n and the rest of the crew were a great bunch as well.

Chad is right, he has us all hooked on the longbows. I hope to be ordering my Crusader in the very near future. I gotta order before mama changes her mind. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

You all want to know what Chad thinks a Canadian Popsicle is? <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Chad,

Glad to hear ya'll had a great time. That is what makes for a successful hunt. The harvesting of game is just icing on the cake!

Kip,

Don't leave us hanging! What does Chad think a Canadian popsicle is?

By the way, if you do get a Crusader, the longer you shoot it, the more you will love it. I've had one for around two months now and I can't believe how much quality is built into these bows, how smooth, quiet and quick they shoot. And mine does it at 51#!!

A person cannot have a bad time when Chad is around. This was a hunt where everyone got along fine together and that in itself makes a great hunt. Getting a moose would have been a bonus and I was one of the ones that had that chance. I knew the wind was against me when I started the stalk, but I gave it a try anyhow. Got within 30 yds and needed a couple more steps to have a clear shot when the wind gave me up. I looked at this hunt as a team effort and it would have be great to get a moose. We owe alot to the Michigan guys for the scouting effort they made. They sure had us where the moose were. Thank you Kip, John, and Brian. I hope we can all get together and try again someday. John

Welcome back Chad, Cedar, Tex. Missed you guys. No one pick on me while you were gone. Felt so alone.

Tex,

Chad is from Mississippi, you don't have to tell us he's a REDNECK, it goes with the territory! And if he is that much bigger than you, I would do some very careful planning as to how to gain revenge!

If you need some ideas, send me an e-mail! <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Bill

P.S. I'm glad ya'll had a great time together!
