Tracer Nock, Update (poof done).

Ben / PA gave me a call and said he was headed up his cabin to check his trail camera and asked if I wanted to go along. Sure I did and we checked the cams.
Well back at the house we checked the cards and on one card there was a real decent buck....but on to the Tracer Nock.
We went into my basement do to the bad weather and I showed Ben the nock.
I took a shot and sure enough, it lit. Cool.
I then shot it out of the General (no magnet) and it lit fine!
Okay, again on the General, it lit (no magnet). Cool I'm thinking it's fixed.
Shot it from the 82nd, no light.
I heard a noise in the arrow, rattle, and honestly I think it's a faulty nock. It then wouldn't unlight, then it wouldn't turn on at all other than blink. I shot it and it did nothing and then all of a sudden it started blinking in the target.
Here is my thoughts. The S nock (Tracer) is made to fit all the production carbon arrows. It also says it fits any Easton with the unibushing taking the S nock. HOWEVER, when inserting it in the 2413 unibushing, the electronics part of the nock is now free floating in this big diameter 2413. I don't think it can take the smashing this arrow does when it hits the targets.
I'm writing Easton to inquire because now, it does nothing. I run it by the magnet and it starts to flash, I cannot deactivate it or anything. If it wasn't bad before, it is now. Honestly, since they claim it fits all unibushing Easton arrows, that's somewhat misleading because yes it fits, but it's not going to last. I'll be curious to what they have to say.

Rob, I can assure you they will get back with you on your problem and be more then happy to take care of it for ya! I emailed them over a month ago about one of the tracers that I had removed from my arrows and now IT WONT LIGHT. I simply told them that I had the nocks for almost a year and just wanted to know if they utilized a better design that is tougher and will hold up for removing from an arrow(because there so tight in the arrow)! I understand its an electronic part and stuff like this can break. blah blah blah
They emailed me back and said they have tested thousands and some do malfunction, but they are more then happy to send me a replacement. I have taken them up on the offer and mailed the old one back to them in the middle of July.
I actually just got done emailing them asking if they have recieved the nock, and when the new one will be sent out!! Be sure to let us know what they say to you when they reply!!!

I'll let you guys know.
Seth, what arrows are you shooting them with? What do you think about my theory that the shafts are too large to contain the electronics part of the nock. In a carbon the O-ring around the electronics isn't adequate for a large diameter aluminum with the unibushing?

I am shooting mine out of a Beman ICS carbon 400. The ONLY complaint I have is how tight they fit in the shaft!! Almost as if once they are in there, thats where they should stay!!
I believe you may have solved your own problem Rob. The Tracers have changed since Easton bought them out. When they were the Original Tracers(like mine) they had a black plastic cover that went over the electronic parts of the nock, now they only have heat shrink(i think)!!
That is definantely a downfall because the battery and such is going to be bouncing around so much.
If you havent emailed them yet ask them if they offer some sort of plastic cover, like that of which came on the original tracers??? I believe if you had that, your problem would be solved!!
Its worth a try!!??!!
Rob, if they dont offer that option anymore and they do send you a replacement I am sure you can brainstorm something up like I described?? Electrical tape, peep tubing, etc... anything will work I think if you protect the battery a little better!!!

Yeah well I was all gung ho too.. Tried mine tonight. Worked fine outside of the arrow. In the arrow no good didn't light when shot! Pull it back a tad and it lit, all the way in the arrow shaft no good. Finally it quit all together.
Trying to get into Cabelas website to see my course of action. Can'tget in it right now. Is it down??
