Bowtechies, help me to understand (limb swap policy)
#1
Recap- 04 Patriot, upper limb delaminating, special order "heavy" 60 limbs need replaced (pulled 65#'s, 3- scales). Bowtech warranty approved limb swap.
Here's where I'm confused. My pro-shop calls to tell me he was told there will be a $20.00 "upgrade fee" to replace my heavy 60# delaminated limbs with 70# limbs.
Why is there an "upgrade charge" if both bows cost the same new?
It's not like $20 will break me, it's just the principal of the matter.
To me, new limbs are new limbs.
Do 70# limbs cost more to make?
Am I reading too much into the word- "upgrade", does it really mean "regrade"- any change will cost $$.
I guess I was looking forward to posting a Yeehaw! post that Bowtechs "awesome" customer service is gonna swap me to 70# limbs, instead I sit here dazed and confused[&o]. In the interest of keeping the customer happy how much is this $20 going to help them out?
I left a phone message yesterday ~10:00am and sent an e-mail to two of them, no replies yet. What's the best way to go about getting some answers?
I don't want to sound like a whiner, I just wish this bumpy ride I'm on would smooth out in my favor for a change.

I'm not aware of that being a Bowtech policy. I would guess (and that's all it is), that you dealer is just trying to get a little $ for his time of swapping out the limbs.

He specifically told me that he wasn't going to charge me anything for the swap and that he would show me the invoice from Bowtech with the upgrade charge on it when I come in to pick up the bow.
I'm not saying he's right or wrong(lying or not), that's just what he told me over the phone.
I actually wouldn't mind paying him some money to do the swap. It's his time and not his fault.
Makes me wonder???

So you are bitching because you have to pay $20 to get new limbs?
I think that I would just suck that one up and figure I came out pretty cheap. For all they know you could have dry fired the thing or left it in a hot vehicle or done any number of things to it. I am not implying that you did that just that they have no idea whether you did or not. So considering the circumstances I don't think you contributing $20 to the cause is out of line. JMO

I've got to agree with Dave on this one, limbs are covered under warranty right? There shouldn't be a charge unless it costs more to manufacture 70 lbs. limbs, then I would understand the upgrade charge.

Stick it to him DaveC, and get Bowtech involved if you have to. This shop gave you problems before and I'm not sure Bowtech would want them representing the company anyway. My limbs were replaced for free, as it should be under warranty. It's already costing you headaches.

Silent, easy there. I don't mean to come off as "bitching", just trying to understand the charge when I was authorized new limbs anyway. Someone is either going to walk over to a shelf with 60# limbs on it, or one shelf over with 70# limbs on it, grab them, stick them in a box and mail them to my dealer. Why $20.00??
If I would have asked for 65# limbs again they would have to go looking for them as I doubt they hgave a heavy 60 shelf-lol (it took longer than normal to ship my bow waiting on odd limbs).
A warranty is a warranty. No- I never dry fired it, never in a hot car (air conditioned house unless in my hands) always shot over ibo. 395 grains at 65# was the lightest I shot and I usually shoot 418 grain arrows with it.
In fact it was shot once UNDER IBO that I have proof of. Right there on the Birth certificate- ~300 grain arrow at 64#'s. Evidently they used the standard 60# arrow to chrony the bow with since it had heavy 60 limbs on it.
Wolf, thanks for the support.
Mrfritz44, I hope the shops not trying to pry some green, as I really like this shop. They did charge me to lube the limb pockets when it was "creaking", but since I didn't buy it from them (weren't open at that time) I felt it was justified. I would gladly pay him to do the limb swap, but he has already stated, without my asking, that he wasn't going to charge me to do the actual work.
I wonder if other brands charge a fee to change limb weights at the time of warranty limb replacement?

I gotta agree with Dave. Warranty is waranty. Unless someone is intentionally weathering their bow to induce delamination so they can upgrade under waranty, what's the difference to the company? I'd like to hear how this works out.

I have swapped a few limbs out now, and I have recieved no charge for them. Although I just replaced the same limbs, not ten pound heavier ones. In one case I swapped heavy 70 # limbs for another set of heavy 70 # limbs. Pulled the same poundage 75 #'s. I am not sure why they just didn't replace your limbs with another set of heavy 60#'s. Well good luck. Try calling bowtech personally.
