Outback or Mighty Mite???
#11
Two guys I know of are getting 297 fps out of the Outback at 29", looks like they still beat the Mighty Mite and their arrows weigh within a few grains of yours Buckeye.
Ok, there is no way (IMO) that they are shooting 297FPS @ 29 inches and shooting 20-30 some odd grains over IBO. Especially out of a bow that only IBO'S at 308 FPS.
It is impossible[8D]
You'd lose 10fps off the bat with the 29 inch DL and at least 10fps more for the arrow weight. Thats with out having anything at all on the string.
I chronoed the MM with the hush kit, D loop, kisser, and fletcher tru hunter on the string, 294 is smokn' with a loaded up string

I'm not saying you are lying, just misinformed

My MM demo (60 pounds) was def faster than my 60 pound OB. And much quieter than the OB as well.
Out of the box, the OB is a more stable shooting platform, IME. It's quite a bit heavier and holds rock solid, and the offset limb pockets really help with side to side nock travel and make the bow very forgiving of lefts and rights. I shoot it extremely well even at longer distances.
But if I had to do it again, I'd probably grab a MM, slap some Xtreme Limbsavers on it to steady it up (adds a pound of mass weight), and still be at the same $ as the OB, and have a quieter, quicker bow with better valley and better quality string and cable.

You really might want to stop now. It's getting less and less credible. At the shop I work for, we've never chrono'd an Outback near 300 fps. It's a nice shooting bow, but just won't fling 'em with a Mighty Mite; all things being equal. And as a hunting bow, the MM is definitely more user friendly re: valley.
I do stand corrected. He is shooting 300 fps with a 394 grain arrow at 30" dl. My bad.

Oh heck.............I'll jump in........my Outback :
New @ 30" 69# 350 grain arrow ,tru-peep, loop, original WB shot 297-298 ! On 75 # it shot 311fps which is below 5 grains per pound !
Hunting I had it set at 75# and it shot a 450 grain arrow 282 fps ! Changed to a WC string and it hit 76# and shot 276 fps !
So I don't believe your story either ..........right now I'd be doing good to hit 300 fps on 76 lbs and your friend's arrow weight...........much less on 64# !!
One another note : My experience is much like Jeff's with the Outback......stable, great shooting smooth, and accurate at longer distances ! Shoots like a larger bow.............but is too noisy (although the 6 animals I have killed haven't noticed.........it would be more enjoyable to shoot if it were quieter) ! Haven't shot the MM so I have no comment ...........except I prefer the grip, draw cycle, and the extra weight of the Outback !

The original poster didn't ask how fast each shoots. All that is relevant is that both bows will fling an arrow fast enough to kill a deer with ease. Besides, I reside in the camp that says speed is over-rated. THere aren't many hunting bows out there that are too slow to kill a deer...
Regarding both bows, you are looking at two of the better bows on the market. You won't go wrong with either but as many have commented, the Mighty Mite might have a more perferred draw cycle.
Try them both and good luck! You're going to be shooting a beauty whatever you decide!!!

Guys, I have no reason to lie. Maybe this guy is fudging his numbers. I don't know! I was only giving what I got. I even wrote it down and posted the second time so I wouldn't look stupid. I obviously don't have near the experience as the rest of you. I believed it, but you guys have more experience and know what will affect speed. I wish I would of never put those numbers in the first post. I just wanted to let the original poster know my view and experience. I know why I quit coming here as often now though. When I did shoot the MM everyone was ready to lend a hand giving advice. Now I shoot a Mathews and its all turned, all a guy gets is Mathews bashing. At least one thing I can and am able to admit is that Bowtech has a great line even though I don't shoot one. I think most of you would rather have bamboo shoots under your finger nails than admit there are good bows by Mathews and other manufactures. I think Bowtech needs to add this disclaimer to their bows: WARNING BRAIN WASHING IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!!!!!

I in no way inteded my previous post against you. I simply was trying to point out that everyone jumped on you regarding speed. I have no doubt you are reporting what you believe. I do think that people around here like to argue about speed and such. Many factors could influence it and I will trust what other's say.
Everyone else:
Why do you have to jump all over a guy who is trying to help? His numbers may not have made sense, but I'm sure he wasn't trying to start the riot he got. And the original poster simply asked a question about preference. What difference does it make if the numbers are high, or low. It's just speed. People get so worked up over this. I shoot a slower bow but do so with accuracy. You can jump on me all you want, but it was what I could afford and I like it for now. I'll say it once more -- a slower bow doesn't make you a worse hunter... Chasing people away from this forum is really not the goal now is it?
PLAY NICE!
And again, to the original poster, good luck with whatever you decide! I'm sure you'll love either.

mjgood0, I don't think anyone was jumping all over anyone. Some of us have not seen the same speeds as claimed. It's ok to disagree, and no one is trying to run anyone off. The original post may not have asked about speed, but it was brought up. So why not discuss it? If I say one thing, and another says something else, I'm not offended. That's just the way it is.
xtremejt, if I offended you I'm sorry. That was never my intention. I've personally seen different than what you were told. And I said so. That's all it amounts to.
