That's like saying we all know that some people are gay but should let our kids view and accept it--- at the same time we all know that it is morally and naturally wrong and not as God intended or they would be able to conceive if you stuck them all on an island somewhere. Just doesn't cut it in my book.[:'(]
Sorry, just watched a bunch making out on the news and felt it was a good comparason.....
IMHO a good answer to the above statement you made is to try to further educate these people into setting more time aside to tune their equipment, through mesageboards or whatever means we have available---using a mechanical over a fixed blade that is not tuned is not the lesser of two evils and we should not look at it that way---it is in fact allowing it to become "OK" to continue on committing a larger evil of being lazy in the sport and not taking the time to properly train and setup, and that is where we as a community must take greater charge of our sport and curb that type of baloney whenever possible before it becomes too damaging and adds more fuel to the anti's fire.

Kinda makes me glad I came in to the board rather quietly.. course I *DID* skip the whole licking feet part...
Dear Lord, I hope I'm forgiven...rofl
I love the human species, each and every one of us are convinced that our way is the best, and it is.. just for yourself, of course, cuz your neighbor knows his/her way is best. Get it?
BTW, I went to the Montec's and they're sweet shooting, SS and sharp.

I used 125 grain Muzzy's for years, lost 1 doe, hit in the shoulder (broke the broadhead) I switched to Steelforce cut on impact 100grain last fall with my new bow because of wind plane with the Muzzy's. [:'(]
Took anice 6pt, complete passthrough and the arrows fly like darts. Bought some 4 blade Hammerheads(mech) for Turkey this spring simply because of the larger wound channel they will hopefully produce. Might use them this fall for deer. Remember a time when bowhunters used a rock strapped to a stick? alot of critters died because of this leap in technology. It all boils down to shot placement.....

Ewolf,
Welcome aboard. I like your opening. I don't use mechanical broadheads because that adds on one more thing that can fail. Heaven knows how many things I add on already. It is however a must to have that well tuned bow. Can't say it eough. I guess I will skip the part about how the scavengers have to eat as well.

BOWFANATIC do you know who Bill Winke is? He is a very respected archery expert. Got petersen's bowhunting today and he said something you should listen to. "Most bowhunters understand that cut-on-impact heads penetrate BETTER than any other heads on the market" I guess that means idiots that think any mechanical head penetrates better then a cut-on-impact are at least in the minority. Thank the good lord that idiots are in the minority.

But how far do you want my bloody arrow stuck in the ground????
I can cut a hole twice as big as you can - and I still have to pull the darn thing out of the dirt................
Twice the hole, from one side thru the other...............
Am I still an Idiot??

P.S. - My hunting arrows weigh under 380 grns
I guess I am a double idiot

I use Meachanicals and will continue to use them - and I never thought they penetrate better than a cut on impact - I know they don't.

You said "fixed heads penetrate better than mechanicals"! Now your turning into cut on contact heads (which is a no-brainer).It just happens to be that my broadhead of choice is a cut on contact mechanical head (Rocky Snyper)!
Ever hear of Randy Ulmer? He wrote a nice little article about wind planing and why he chose to use mechanicals. He falls into that "archery expert" category a little better than Bill Winke in my opinion.

Yeah I know who Bill Winke is. He is that guy who's magazine is five years behind Hunting BBS on a good day. I laughed so hard I need a sqeegee to see the computer.
