That's like saying we all know that some people are gay but should let our kids view and accept it--- at the same time we all know that it is morally and naturally wrong and not as God intended or they would be able to conceive if you stuck them all on an island somewhere. IMHO a good answer to the above statement you made is to try to further educate these people into setting more time aside to tune their equipment, through mesageboards or whatever means we have available---using a mechanical over a fixed blade that is not tuned is not the lesser of two evils and we should not look at it that way---it is in fact allowing it to become "OK" to continue on committing a larger evil of being lazy in the sport and not taking the time to properly train and setup, and that is where we as a community must take greater charge of our sport and curb that type of baloney whenever possible before it becomes too damaging and adds more fuel to the anti's fire.
