Default Shot me one of them new fangled Paytreeuts!

Finally got to shoot one of these bad boys...(I'm still waiting for mine).

This was a 3D Target color bow w/ nothing on the string except for a peep and tie on nock. 29" module w/ Infinity cam ,70 Lbs at what felt like 75% to 80% letoff.

First off, the limb angle is definitely more "severe" than an a Mathews Q style. even at brace it has more angle than my Q2 at full draw. The riser is beefy... I love it..good mass weight, it's not a willow branch definitely near or above the 4.25 Lb stated mass weight. It balanced quite well w/ a medium length and weight stab. The grip is a bit fatter and deeper than the "Standard" BT grips.. I personally didn't care for it as much as the grip on my MM, but Loesch can get some business from me.

I shot the bow and immediately thought: Crap, did this thing go off? my next thought was "this thing doesn't seem very fast"...So I told the guy, he smiled and then he shot it through the chrono..307 FPS w/ a IBO legal ACC 3-39.

The bow is a wolf in sheep's clothing. You really don't realize you are shooting a 300+ FPS bow..Amazing...It's almost totally dead in your hand.

I'm probably going to have to sell my MM, but as much as I love it, I don't think I'm going to miss it much when I get the Patriot.

Bowtech is going to be selling the piss out of these things when they get them in the hands of the masses.

The Patriot seems to be gathering quite a following.BTs' gonna be sell'n alot of 'em this year.I've heard several shooters comment on how slow they thought the shot was until the chrono lit up to 300+fps, testimony to the bows incredible performance. The only thing bad I've heard anyone say bad about this sweety, is many people have told me that they didn't care for the meatier grip. Can't wait to see one for myself at the Deer Classic

thanks for the report Jeff
now my feet are starting to itch waiting for the local pro shop to get one in so I can go and try it.
the more I read and hear about this bow the more I want one and the waiting is killing me.
Maybe I should stay off the board till it arrives <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

So if all of the above is true, Shrewd is going to be selling the P out of their new grips.

It also raises the issue of here we are a year later, and the companies have again outdone themselves making their new bows quieter. Mathews has those things on the limb tips, NAA has their saunder type string deal. Sooner or later, Simms is going to be irrelevant, and we can look forward to less posts asking about what stabilizer is best to &quot;get rid of that rigging noise I hear in my ears&quot;. I believe the ultimate prize on the noise thing will go to bows like the Paytreeut, that acheive quiet shots without apparent gizmos.

Hey folks,

Yeah, the bow really is something…Honestly I didn’t expect to be THAT surprised.

As far as noise; it was hard to tell. The bow was set-up w/ a noisy 3D Rover rest, and Sure-Loc sight, no silencers, etc, and I shot it indoors…considering all that and the light arrows, I thought it was fairly quiet…w/ a Hunting setup w/ silencers, LS, more solid accessories, etc., it should be nice. I had no frame of reference at the time to do a direct comparison noise-wise.

Re: The grip. Yeah it’s a bit bigger than I like in the throat, however it did seem to have a lower profile in the heel than the “normal” BT grip. I don’t think it’s so bad you could not get used to it, but those w/ smaller hands might have a tough time with it. I also suspect it will be more pleasant feeling to shoot of the riser than the non-pro riser BT designs (MM, T29, ES, etc)

The riser was really impressive, the bow felt like a 38” or longer bow. I really liked the extra mass weight, it made the bow quite stable feeling without feeling like you were holding a 25 pound dumbbell: it balanced extremely well, and had kind of a “wrap around your bow arm” feel to it…like getting into the cockpit of a F-18 Hornet, or behind the wheel of a Ferrari…an extension of your bow arm, if you will. I can only imagine that the new BKII will shoot wonderfully on this riser, even if the limb angle is not as tight.

I can’t wait for mine either, but unfortunately I contacted the dealer whom I had ordered from, and he had not placed the order yet (“I forgot”…. jackA$$) : ( , so I’m going down today at lunch to “give him what for”.

(RANT MODE)

I wish I could find a decent dealer for ANY brand bow w/ in 1 and 1/2 hours drive. My closest dealer is not very knowledgeable, does not keep up on new items, carries cheap arrows & accessories, and charges premium prices for it all. Another dealer I go to on occasion about an hour away is knowledgeable but a tad arrogant and a big-BS’er, and not only that, I always get the “ Can you come back….?” (MULTIPLE CHOICE folks)

A: “In a few hours, the fellow who can help you will be in then”
B: “When my Husband is in, you can talk to him, I don’t know really know anything..giggle..giggle” (usually followed by choice C or E)
C: “Tomorrow after 2PM”
D: “when we are not so busy”
E: “Tomorrow before 2PM”

I go in there ready to drop $500-$700, I do ALL my own bow work (I let them know up-front, so all someone has to do at most is get me a correct draw length module and ring me up) and It’s like I have only a 2 minute window of opportunity every month, or the stars have to line up right or something!

The third closest dealer is an operation w/ bad hours, they have reasonable prices, are eager to help, but are the kind of shop that berates everything they don’t sell, and tries to railroad everyone into buying the same brand bow, sight, rest, etc that they shoot (and they ALL shoot the same exact bow, w/ the same exact cam, and the same exact sight, and the…sigh….Archery Lemmings)

The only good dealer is 2 1/2 to 3 hrs away, and they are knowledgeable, friendly and eager to help folks. Unfortunately they have the highest prices I have ever seen anywhere (well over MSRP on most items), and only carry 2 quality bow lines, neither of which I’m really interested in and they are the same 2 lines that the third closest dealer carries.

God, do I miss running a shop….

I know the feeling with the shops Jeff
One local shop here ran down the muzzy ZE that much he lost a sale on a bow as well
Another one gave me one price over the phone for a certain brand bow then when I get to the shop he tried to sell me another he too lost a sale.
The closest one to me must only be run as a tax right off because they are hardly there but when they are there they give good service.
I have been putting in some serious thought of opening up a shop here but I really dont know enough yet to drop down serious dollars and open one.

The risers are cut the same under the grip on the Pro and the other risers except Stalkers and pkgs. and Rascals. The grips should also be the same with the exception of the Pro grips have a little longer side on them at the top of the grip. I just went and looked at my grips which I have all three they offer (rosewood, maple and laminated) and the configuration looks the same to me. Maybe it just felt different to you than your Mighty Mite does...

BTShooter,

I should clarify, and explain further re: the grip.

Due to the deeper riser at the grip area, the grip feels deeper. As for the narrowness of the throat, and feel of the heel, I compared it to a 2001 Pro-38 and a 2001 T-29 sitting on the dealers shelf: Definite difference between the 38 and the Patriot that he had as well as the T29. Now whether this is because the Pro-38 is an earlier model and grips were later changed or because the Patriot is just different I don’t know, but they did not feel similar. The Pat’s grip was wider in the throat and was wider and a bit more flat at the heel. I thought at first it might be that the MM/T29/ES might have the grip area of the riser machined a bit more at an angle so the grip would feel higher, but after further inspection that did not seem to be the case. Perhaps the people who make the new grips goofed, but there was a noticeable difference between the Pat and the P-38 barring the side area that comes up to the shelf.

I’m not refuting your experience or the way it’s supposed to be, just explaining the way that this particular Pat is/was.

Again, I don’t think it’s awful, and it’s not so bad that It would influence my decision to purchase one or not, but I’ve always felt BT could & should improve upon their grip design (it essentially is the same grip used on the original Oregon ZR2000/BK machined riser bows w/ a slightly more narrow throat, and slightly less heel), and it seems they might have gone the wrong way from a feel standpoint. IMO, it’s the only glaring fault in the entire line that needs to be addressed at some point. I hope it doesn’t take them 8 years to figure it out like it did Mathews.

But who knows, it might shoot much better than the grip I’m used to on the other BT’s I’ve shot and/or owned, right?

And there’s always aftermarket grips for those who don’t like the stock grips.
