Default RE: Shot me one of them new fangled Paytreeuts!

BTShooter,

I should clarify, and explain further re: the grip.

Due to the deeper riser at the grip area, the grip feels deeper. As for the narrowness of the throat, and feel of the heel, I compared it to a 2001 Pro-38 and a 2001 T-29 sitting on the dealers shelf: Definite difference between the 38 and the Patriot that he had as well as the T29. Now whether this is because the Pro-38 is an earlier model and grips were later changed or because the Patriot is just different I don’t know, but they did not feel similar. The Pat’s grip was wider in the throat and was wider and a bit more flat at the heel. I thought at first it might be that the MM/T29/ES might have the grip area of the riser machined a bit more at an angle so the grip would feel higher, but after further inspection that did not seem to be the case. Perhaps the people who make the new grips goofed, but there was a noticeable difference between the Pat and the P-38 barring the side area that comes up to the shelf.

I’m not refuting your experience or the way it’s supposed to be, just explaining the way that this particular Pat is/was.

Again, I don’t think it’s awful, and it’s not so bad that It would influence my decision to purchase one or not, but I’ve always felt BT could & should improve upon their grip design (it essentially is the same grip used on the original Oregon ZR2000/BK machined riser bows w/ a slightly more narrow throat, and slightly less heel), and it seems they might have gone the wrong way from a feel standpoint. IMO, it’s the only glaring fault in the entire line that needs to be addressed at some point. I hope it doesn’t take them 8 years to figure it out like it did Mathews.

But who knows, it might shoot much better than the grip I’m used to on the other BT’s I’ve shot and/or owned, right?

And there’s always aftermarket grips for those who don’t like the stock grips.
