Unlike ijimmy, I'm very happy to see Merlin go to the high brace heights. I say to heck with that extra speed. Give me shootability with good sleeve clearance any day, over extra speed. I've been hoping to see a trend in more shootable designs, as opposed to shorter then short, speed bows.
On the Merlins I've checked, I've found the manufacturer specs to be right on. Truth in advertising seems to be important to Merlin, and I like getting what I expect. I can't say I like the parallel limb design, so I'm likly to go with a Hunter's Quest as opposed to the new Max Extreme, but I will wait until I've had the opportunity to shoot one.

Oh Im not that displeased , considering the fact that I've got a maxextreme on the way , Last year I sent a cougar back because it had too short a brace . I can live with 7 - 7-1/2 , pulling only 28 inches , but I'm sure I'll blow thru um with 8" allso . Anyone who has'nt shot a omega cam bow should , they are real nice .

Either bow will serve you well. The Hunter's Quest 35 is super quiet, and shoots excellently. I've yet to try the Max Xtreme, but I like the geometry on my Max 3000 so figure I will like the MaxXtreme too. either way, I can always go with the Quest 35, I already know that is a phenominal bow too, one that has already been proven. Good shooting, Pinwheel 12

I've been using the Quest35 w/ Omega cams for about 6 months now. VERY nice bow with respectable performance for the 7.75" brace height.
Here's a thread we had on this a while ago:

HiLeft-
No, I'm sorry Merlin won't be in PA this year--- More reputable and competent dealers are coming onboard every day tho, and Merlin USA plans to have a close relationship with all of them.(the dealer list on the Merlin website will be updated to include all 2004 Merlin dealers in the USA by the end of January. Some of the ones on the list are no longer Merlin dealers, so call before you make the trip anywhere) All dealers can view and shoot the bows at the ATA show on Jan 22-25 in Indianapolis, all consumers can view them in their favorite shops shortly thereafter or contact www.pinwheelproducts.com if there is not one near you. If you have a favorite shop that you think may wish to try the bows, have them contact Merlin USA directly at [email protected] and request a dealer application package, and maybe we can soon get them in your area too. More public shows and shoots will be attended as we grow also. Good shooting, Pinwheel 12

Hileft There use to be a shop in Reading that carried them I traveled up there to shoot one in 2001 before I bought my first Merlin Max. He's no long in buisness or stopped carring Merlin. The only other one in Pa. is Larry Wise who is near Harrisburg. Not sure if he has a shop or not but he is a Merlin rep. I got a price from him over the internet but you won't beat the service or the price from Pinwheel. I just pick-up a Max3000 from him a couple weeks ago and he will walk you through everything with nothing left unturned.
Where are you located? I'm in Delaware county Pa. and might be able to let you shoot mine to get the feel of a Merlin. Once you do you'll know what the big stink is all about. Then your next move will be to call Pinwheel and place an order. JERRY

We will no doubt be expanding on the dealers in PA,(and many other states too) in fact I have had a couple of inquiries for PA in just the past week. Many will be signing on in the coming days and weeks, especially at or right after the ATA show when dealers can view and shoot the bows. That's all it's going to take to sway any that may be hesitant, I'm sure of that!
Yep, there is definately a new kid in town--- Again I invite everyone to try a 2004 Merlin, and compare all of it's features against any other bow made anywhere today. THEN decide for yourselves which bow is best for you. But you must try one, or you'll only be cheating yourself from the experience.
Good shooting, Pinwheel 12

Pinwheel--can you say if they are any dealers here in Southern Ontario, Canada? I had planned on going down to the ATA show, now that looks dismal, due to other obligation.
