Default Bowtech shooters, question I have been thinking about

I know a lot of people on here shoot and really like Bowtech. I have shot a few of them and yes, very nice bows and enjoyable to shoot. One thing that concerns me though with the VFT design of this bow. With out the limbs moving much at all, doesn't this put an incredible amount of strain on the cable system along with the cams and axles? Unlike traditional systems where the force is more spread out between limbs and the eccentric system, it seems to me that its all on the eccentric system on these bows with the extremely parrellel design.

Whats everyone's thoughts about this?

This is by no means the reason why I didn't purchase one, its just something that I was thinking about.

On all compound bows the cables take up most of the load once the limb have been flexed to the drawn position. The poundage of the bow and let-off are the determining factors. The limb configuration is of little consequence other than providing a stable capture to the riser (We had a Legacy that the limbs wanted to walk back out of). The single cable on a 1-cam bow is really "strained" (as you put it) because there is only one and the entire load on the string is let-off, while this same load is distributed through 2 cable on a dually.

Rob hit the nail on the head. The single cam has a very low brace height tension on the cable but at full draw there is quite a bit.

That said, I haven't found the VFT design or other manufacturers parallel limb bows to be any better or any worse for wear and tear on the bow itself or the string/cable.

All I know is what I see on my Patriot. I'm guessing 5000 to 6000 shot on this bow and there is absolutley no sign of any cable wear around the cams or for that......any where! I have had the string re-served twice, mainly because I shoot right off the string.

Good Luck!
