Rocket Steelhead vs. Rocky Mt. Snyper
I already used a Snyper on a big doe earlier this year and was impressed with the results. Dead deer in 40 yards. Just wondering how the Snyper would do on a shoulder hit? I like the looks of the Steelhead from Rocket, same type of ferrule as my favorite fixed blade head, the Rocky Ti-100.
Also does the Steelhead produce ample blood trails like the Snyper, and what about an entrance hole? The Snyper made an awesome entrance hole, but I' m nervous about hitting bone.
I' m shooting a single-cam Hoyt HavocTec set at 62 lbs, my arrows are Beman ICS Hunters cut to 27 1/2" . My arrows fly at about 250 fps. Do you think my set-up is generating enough KE to shoot whitetails out to 40 yards with the Steelheads?
How much kinetic energy is adequate to shoot Rocket' s larger cutting Sidewinder?

Both are great heads. The snyper blades are sharper and stronger, and the snyper will produce a larger wound channel. The steelhead has a stronger body and would probably do better in hard bone. Mostly due to the smaller cutting diameter and softer blades. I personaly prefer the snyper but either head will get the job done. One thing to consider is that the Snyper tip can bend on sever impacts, and the steelhead blades can bend or break. Like I said though both are fine heads.

I have used both heads pretty extensively as well and my experiences mirror Chris' s. I would use either head if I was looking for penetration though I prefer the Steelhead' s design for sheer durability...though the blades are not quite as sharp as the Snypers.

as mentioned both are great broadheads. I like th esnypers a bit more because I like the way they open.
either way you will have a great broadhead so it really dosn' t matter much.
