Default Question about Gold Tips

Last year was my first year switching to carbons, I used gold tip xt 5575s the black ones. I just ordered a dozen in the camo finish. Well they just came and 9 out of 12 of them have a rattling sound coming from inside where the nock is. WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?

None of my gold tips from last year rattle at all. I wish I could shoot now but we are having a torrential rain. If I hear rattling while the arrow is going down range I am sending them back. If I just spin the arrow slowly in my hand I can hear the rattling. What is making them rattle?

GoldTips use " Lock Nocks" , which is a nock that has a tiny set screw inside to lock it in place once you get it rotated for vane clearance.

Take a small allen wrench, stick it in the hole in the V of the nock, and tighten.

Cap- Thanks from me also. I was putting on my broadheads, and going " what the heck is that sound?" That explains it.

Just tighten the screws till the nocks are snug. The screw spreads the end of the nock to hold it in place. If you really torque down on them, you will split the end of the shaft.

or if you screw them to hard they' ll pop out the bottom and slide down the shaft to sit on your insert

Best thing to do with the Lock Nocks is throw them away and put in a different kind. They canpinch the string really hard, which can effect your arrow flight.

What do you suggest in place of Lock Nocks. I ' ve experienced the same thing and tightening them did no good at all once they came out.....

Easton nocks work much better. Alot less hassle and I think they are more durable.

Easton nocks are much better. Pesonally I use Tune-A-Nock FS Arrow Nock. I have had no problems and they work like their supposed too. Here is a link to Bass Pro.
