Can this be the future of bow design?

There are all types shooting both compounds and traditional equipment.
The compound guys shouldn' t rip on the trad guys for shooting slow bows...
AND the trad guys shouldn' t be ripping on the compound guys for having " all that crap on your bow" double that if they can' t out shoot the guy with all that " crap"
I have run into that quite a few times...I' ll be shooting and some guy shooting trad stuff comes to the line and starts shooting. I say nothing more than " hi" after a few minutes I hear " What do ya need all that crap on yer bow for?" I say it helps me be a better shot. He says " you don' t need that crap on yer bow to be a good shot" getting iritated...I ask if he' d like to shot for $1 per point...they never take me up on it.
Hey, I have NOTHING agains' t what ANYONE shoots (1 guy in our " group shoots and old wood riser compound instinctively) Just let me shoot what I want to...or at LEAST give me a damn good reason why I should switch!

Mahly, I' d take you up on that $1 a shot run through the course, IF I do the setup. Even better, I' d go you a dollar a point.
Not that I' m all that great a shot, but there are shots I can easily make with a recurve or longbow, or barebow compound, that you couldn' t even attempt with all your fooferaw. That' s why I don' t hunt with all that stuff. It' s too restrictive. I' m too limited in what I can do when I' ve got sights on a bow.
When shooting sights, I HAVE to hold the bow just so or I don' t hit anything. If I have to cant the bow to get clearance for my limbs, I' m sh*t outta luck. If I' m in deep woods during the last half hour of legal shooting time, I can still see plenty well enough to shoot. Sights disappear unless they' re lit. And if they' re lit, they' re probably too bright to see anything on the other side of them.
No, I can' t shoot with as consistant accuracy as you can in perfect conditions, but I can wear you out in imperfect conditions.

Too bad you live in TX...I' d like to try your course. Of course if I DO get my arse kicked...we' l have to go double or nothing on spots
At least where I hunt, I haven' t found much that I could hit with a recurve (that I would shoot at) that I couldn' t with a compound....but I haven' t looked much either.
Low light??? How bout a midnight shoot with a light on the target (say a coyote just so people don' t think were practicing shinning
) and I' ll use a target peep [8D]

Hey Arthur P, this could get interesting.
I might have to hit some of the trad shooters up at our club. How about we go for $1 per point. First we shoot the course you set and then shoot the course I set and combine scores for both courses. Sound fair enough?

Arthur, you can make those shots with traditional equipment because you practice them with traditional equipment, just as I practice them with all the gadgets.
We have a guy here that used to be " the guy" to beat a few years ago that can lay flat on his back and cosistantly hit the center of the bullseye at 20 yards with a peep and pins on a compound. Why?because he practices it and it has won him a few beers over the years.[8D]
I practice shooting sitting on my backside and facing the target at 30 yards. Some say this type of shot can' t be done with gadgets,NOT TRUE.I practice sitting in chairs and shooting almost directly behind me.Why? Because I enjoy it and it might come in handy when that buck of a lifetime steps out and I can' t get stood up and turned around.
I do quite well in toughman shoots but I do use the heavy aluminum arrows but the pins and peep are still there. It is a matter of understanding your equipment and arrow trajectory plays a big factor. The arch of the arrow is actually a huge help on some of those toughman courses. The people that set these things up still haven' t figured out that trash directly in front of a target isn' t a problem. You will shoot over it.
I actually use heavy aluminums for the weight. They deflect much less in trash than the carbons do.
I am not buying into the heavy arrows being less efficient than light.Sure, you may lose more speed on a percentage scale but if you check the ke ,I believe the heavy arrow will still produce more ke.On any bow, unless there is a problem somewhere.I might be wrong but I am having a hard time seing a bow shoot a light arrow that will produce more ke than the same bow does with a heavy arrow.
I would think the reason rangeball sees the heavy arrow gain only .8% icrease and saw much more out of the lighter setup was due to the fact that the heavy arrow was already almost as efficient as it could be and therfore had less room for improvement.
Sure ,there are companies that are emphasizing speed with lighter arrows(and designing accordingly) but some of us can' t even pull the darn things back. The draw force curves are just crazy, imo, and I for one couldn' t even dream of hunting with one.And heaven forbid you have to let it down.It would most likely try to throw me out of the tree.[8D]
I do think it is up to the individualls to choose for themselves what is best for them, provided they educate themselves first. If they don' t they are setting themselves up for heartache.Shoot what you enjoy shooting and can shoot accurately.
Basically,to each their own.

Mahly, you talking indoor, NFAA field or FITA dots?
8PT, fair enough. IF you buy the first round afterwards.
TFOX, how often do you practice the head shot on the rattlesnake at 3 feet?

Arthur, looser buys first round.
I enjoy the toughman shoots. I even set the courses sometimes. We don' t have the rattlesnake, but the 12 ring on the coyote etc. at that distance is a piece of cake. 40 yard pin 1 1/2" above the 12 and pinwheel it.

Hey, count me in, too!
YES, we' re counting 12' s! No shots under 40 yds for large animals, nothing under 30 for Turkey and rock rascals, that would be way too easy! Can you say " clean" ? Sure you can!

Well Arthur, there isn' t much call for head shots on rattlesnakes in my part of Ky but there are a few timber rattlers in the state.
I have busted a water snake, that was sunning, off a log at 10 yards with my bow fishing rig.
That was interesting,4 ft water snake being pulled in to a 12 ft boat that was stuck in the back half of his body.3 people on boat and 1 snake that was very pissed off.I don' t know who was more pissed, the snake or the other 2 people in the boat.
I have been advised not to do that again.[&:]
