Default Shelf contact by fletching

Hey all I joined this forum a few weeks ago because I was wanting to learn more about tuning my bow.
I was having a problem with arrow groups being very random seeming, though much of this may have been from lack of practice for the spring.
But, I learned a bit about tuning here and was trying to get my 100g muzzy three blades to group with my FPs. After chasing my FPs around a bit I though I had them hitting together, which was awesome.
My problem now is that it seems that I have lowered my drop zone so much that I now am having fletching contact on the riser shelf where the foam arrow holder is. It is only on the left side and I have cut it down to near nothing but I am still noticing that a wear mark is forming in the foam. my nock point seems about 1/4" high right now.
Does anybody have any ideas what would be causing this? I have tried to adjust my tiller as per the sticky thread above
Bow setup: Bear Instinct, 26.5" dl, 27.25 Easton xcell 400, 65#'s, release no D-loop, kisser, tube peep sight, trophy ridge drop zone,

I would start by putting on string loop or metal D loop and retune. I would say that the release under the arrow is the reason you are having issues. These newer bows are just not that forgiving of this syle of shooting. If you can picture this in your head. Your arrow is actually setup that way because of the lack of a D-loop. You are drawing from the center point (release in the center of the string if the nock is high). The nock is high, the tip is starting low. It isn't a huge angle but it is an angle (on the arrow at full draw) you need to get a loop and square your arrow/rest up and try again.

Also, before you change everthing, did you have this issue before tiller tuning?

I am sure you will get more/other/even better advice. This is just mine.

Good Luck.

Hey, Dryridge thanks for the reply. I have been considering a loop, I just was trying not to change too much before the hunting season starts August 28th.
Like many guys I slack a bit during the non hunting season, so I really haven't shot much this year till a little over a month ago. I was grouping very well at the end of last season and then this year I'm all over the place even at twenty yards. It used to be groups of touching arrows and now It's hard to keep them inside of a six inch circle.
It seems that sometime the arrows fly perfect, but many times they look to be kicking out to the right. A few weeks ago I had the shop help me paper tune it because my arrows were flying funny then as well. We got it to shoot without a tear but it still seemed to shoot inconsistently.
Maybe it's a form issue but I dont think I would be shooting so bad at twenty yards.

Default perhaps I explained my problem wrong.

So after shooting for the last few days, I have come to the conclusion that my nocking point is too low. Does this sound right?
I think this is correct because I had to move my rest up about a quarter inch to have my arrows centered on the berger/rest mounting bolt. I did this and my arrow groups immediately became much much tighter.

But, now my arrow is just slightly higher than parralel and after shooting a few bare shafts they continuously hit higher than FP's and if I start to lower the rest I get contact again.

I don't have the equipment to move the nock right now, but does anyone think that the direction I am going is correct?

Sounds like you are headed in the right direction.Get the nock moved up and all should be well.
