Default Back tension???

How many use a back tension release? Do you think it helps?

I just bought a T.R.U. Ball chappy boss. It has the caliper head that swivels 360 degrees. I like the release but I am having some trouble getting use to it. How long did you use a back tension release before you felt comfortable enough to use it a 3D or tournament setting?

First 2 shots ever trying it I punched myself in the mouth and launched the arrows (guys standing around thought this was just hilarious!). Those are the only 2 shots I' ve ever tried with a pure back tension release. Guess I' m just set in my ways and didn' t want to spend the time. Others have gotten the hang of it within a shooting session but it depends on the individual and they' re determination/sticktoitiveness.

It took me about a couple weeks. Then the confidence would go away and come back at times. I think it' ll help in most situations. Hills and wind can be trying sometimes. BT' s not a cure-all though. You still need to think about aiming, and not think " ok if I squeeze it this way it will go off right about now" . But when you get confident? Just pull, aim, and the arrow will be gone.
