RE: 2002 Bowtech Patriot finish??
I had a martin cougar 2001 model, the film dip was coming off around the grip area, martin was nice enough to replace the riser with a new one.
I think you can say , they stand behind their products! |

Yes, mine is wearing off, but that will happen with almost ALL film dipped bows, and will for a long time. The sweat from your hands deteriorate the film, and it just kinda melts away over time. Personally, I don' t really care, but for target shooters that want a really nice looking bow, they usually get Anodized risers. (I' m gonna be one of ' em just soon! LOL)

RE: 2002 Bowtech Patriot finish??
Just thought I' d give my 2cnts. worth. I bought my patriot in may of last year, About two days later I noticed that there was a like a swirl on one corner of the top of the limb pocket. A little disapointed in that, but decided not to let it bother me. Guess I should of inspected a little better before I bought it. About 3 mnths. later I started noticing the camo fade on the front of the grip on the riser and also on some edges of the riser. By the way, I always keep it in a padded case and I use a bow stand. I have a 98' martin that looks brand new that I' ve shot A LOT more than this one. Also had a 91' Darton with no problems.
My thoughts; good shooting bow, inavative designs, looks good out of the box, but don' t brag to your buds about the paint job after a year of shooting. I would gladly and willingly trade the paint job on it for my old martin. If nothing else,IMO, it makes you more confident in your bow if it can look like it can take a beating and keep on ticking. Paint job gets a D- [:' (] One other thing that I was dissapointed in, is that the bow that I ordered and recieved was a 27" draw. The birth certificate that I got with it said that it was a 28" bow and it was tested at that. Also, the serial number on the BC on the bow don' t match up. Whats up with that!?! Just my thoughts. |

It' s unlikely but not impossible that the factory may have gotten the birth certificates switched around at the plant... |
RE: 2002 Bowtech Patriot finish??
Back when the film dip was coming off my Martin, I had heard that Martin had replaced risers on several customer bows, because of the film dip coming off. I didn' t really care enough to ask for a new riser, but I thought it showed a lot of customer concern for Martin to take care of a problem that wasn' t under warranty.
At the time I purchased my Martin, there was a customer in the shop who was picking up an older Martin that was in for repair. The bow was about 10 years old and had to have a new riser. Martin replaced it for free, even though the bow was sold with only a five year warranty. It was an eye opening experience for me. A company that would take care of a customer problem that was not warranteed, without hassle, was worth looking at. I had heard of many customers pulling their hair out, when dealing with some mfgs over problems on bows with a lifetime warranty. From that point on, I paid little attention to whether a bow came with a lifetime warranty. For me, it is now more important to deal with a company with the right attitude when dealing with customer concerns. I' m not suggesting that every bow with film dip coming off, should be replaced, just that each situation should be handled on it' s own merits, by the manufacturer. |
