Now lets see if I can get it in for you Chief.
The following is what Chief was trying to get in just copied and pasted it from his email.

That is a great suggestion and you are correct. Make sure it' s something that will fit you hand well. My only problem is I might have seen a couple of hand held releases at the shoots I' ve been to, but a very few. Like maybe 2 since last year. And I know nobody else shooting a triggerless BT release at all. It' s kindof unheard of around here.

I took my triggerless release into the local shop and showed it to the guys and explained how it worked to them. They were clueless until then and I' m not even sure they had heard of such a thing. They were kindof afraid of it []!

I have a handle with a string to practice on so I let them try it out. It was good for a few laffs.

Ausie Guy, I order a Tru-Ball Extreme through my archery dealer and Im waiting for it to come in to the shop.
I have been a finger shooter for about forty years. This will be a major change for me. The thing I liked about this style release is the manner in which it is held. It seemed the closest I could get to the feel of my finger and arm to finger shooting if that makes any sense.
Now when I tried it I didn' t have to " trigger" it, just slight use muscle flex. The demo model was set up very light. More for target shooting than hunting as I will be using it. Of course I well not have it that light but, do you know, will I still be able to use muscle tension/flex to trigger the release at a stiffer trigger setting?

And you are right, it is not cheap.

Logs.
Both the Extreme releases I have have the heavy spring in them and set heavy.
The reason I have them like that is so I have to concentrate to use the back muscles to fire them plus it also help with punching the trigger so to speak.
I use mine not only for 3d but also for hunting and well my hunting buddies think I am crazy for using a target release for hunting.
But I can do what they cant and thats hook the release to the string loop and still have my hand free

There are some good buys to be had on these releases if you know where to look they have a classified section over on archery talk which is mainly for target guys the releases go from anywhere from $20 too $100 depending on what it is.

Thanks guys for your advice, I' ve been thinking it over today while at work, and I' ve come to a decision. My decision is to think about it some more. You all have great suggestion, I' ve been to T.R.U.' s website and all of them look good. I' m going to our state' s spring invitational Saturday and theirs always a lot of guys there shooting that style of release, so maybe I can try a couple out.
BobCo19-65, you said that you bought the extra double ball jaw head, do you remember what they cost? That looks great for hunting!
Thanks again.

micah, yes that is exactly what I use it for. You can get the double ball release clipped on a bit faster then the talon, and you can leave the release on the bow while not in use. I think that you will probably pay in the order of $35 for the extra head, I believe that comes with the double ball nock (which I think is worth about $13 by itself). It is worth it to me because I can change the head without changing the feel of the release at all. I don' t like the idea of changing the entire release style for hunting after you have used the other one all summer shooting with. Kind of get the best of both worlds by just having the extra head.

Ausie-guy, Thanks for the info. Being new to using a release I can only say that this style release feels the most natural to me and I like the fact that I can hang it on my string or loop while in the stand.
