i have been making my own string for a while now and the only problem i am having is on the power cable where it goes over the sharp bend of the cam. this is where the serving seperates. i just keep sliding it down to the cam when this happens. i have tried cam lock serving tighter and serving looser nothing seems to work. also my bow came with wc strings same thing happend what gives.

selway, some cams are more prone to do this than others.

I have been spinning my own strings for probably 15 years now, and have had this problem a few times.

Some cams have very shallow and narrow string channels. When you combine that with a radical angle on the cam, it does give you problems.

I serve my strings VERY tight, and only use as mant strands on the strings as I absolutely have to.

Even at that, I have had a few bows that still would seperate the serving after a couple thousand shots.

In those cases, I would just pop the string off, put it back on the jig, and reserve it.

when i served them very tight they would crack open between the windings.what i can;t figure out were is all the serving going as i keep pushing it torward the cam after it gets loose. its about a inch shorter were i originaly served it to start.

Ya got me there! Never heard of that before.

Are you sure that you are finishing the end of the serving off real good?

It almost sounds like it is unwinding up the string, leaving a new wear mark, and you`re just pushing the serving back to the original finish point.

Selway, are you serving the loop also? If not this is where your slippage might occur. If it is slipping up the string towards the center serving e-mail me and I have a different finish for you to try. And remember to strip as much of the original wax off the string as you can before serving this will help with slippage.

its slipping toward the cam i marked the string with a black magic marker to know how far to serve . i keep pushing the serving toward the cam everytime it cracks open like 50 shots or so. this is on the power cable moves from center of bow towared the cam its a inch closer to the cam now. i rough up the string with steel wool and served tight with cam lock still going toward cam. also finish served with end of serving pull between stands hoping this would stop it. like i said before what gives? forgot to add yes serving the end loops
