Default Bow Presses - Backing Off the Limbs?

It is generally recommended that one back off the limbs of a bow, three or four turns on the limb bolts, prior to pressingthe bow. On a 70 lb. bow, this would reduce the pull weight to about 60 lbs. or so. But what if the bow is already 60 lbs. (or less)? Is there something about the limb design that requires the limbs to be relaxed, or is it simply to reduce overall strain on the system? Thanks. Roskoe.

Gernerally speaking I think that it's to reduce the stress on the overall "system." In some tuning instances it's not a good idea to decreased the poundage, but more important to set up your press correctly. Lots of people press the limbs too close to the pockets where there isn't much flexibility, and this is where problems occurr.
