RAZORTEC HAS " FUNKY" RECOIL

In a recent bow review by PAbowhunter, he said the Razortec exhibited a " funky" recoil when shot. He said the bow appeared to kick to the side when shot. It was also mentioned that this disappeared when the bow was loaded out with a stabilizer, etc. This concerns me because I don' t want to rely on band-aids to fix a problem if there is a design flaw in the cam-and-a-half system. A bow that kicks to the side seems like it would be a tuning nightmare compared to one that jumps forward, but maybe not. I' ve also heard from other sources, that while this bow is really quiet, it is just a little louder than the Legacy and Q2.
Here are my questions: (1) Has anyone else experienced this " funky" recoil when shooting a bare Razortec? (2) Has anyone shot these bows in a side-by-side, apples-to-apples comparison with the Legacy, LX, Q2 & 03' Patriott to compare quietness? (3) Why hasn' t Hoyt gone to the longer riser/parallel limb design on their bows?
Thanks.

I noticed this the first time I shot the bow but it was actually just me putting a little too much palm on the grip.I didn' t have the same problem on the second shot because I got my hand rotated the way it should have been to begin with.I think it is a result of the small grip and the short axle to axle.
As with any bow, there is a period of getting familiar with the bow.All bows are different and some fit and some do not but if given a chance most anyone can shoot most any bow that is set up right for them.

To the third part of your question.I believe that Hoyt prefers to keep reflex to a minimum and to get speed out of the parallel limbs you must have a high reflex, even though the brace is still good the reflex is not.IMO
I would think that my riser at 22" on my Ultratec is plenty long and a brace over 7 3/8" and reflex of 1.25 should be great for anything that you wish to do with a bow.

OKbowhunter, I just bought the Razortec and haven' t had a problem with the " funky" recoil. I had shot two other razortecs bare before buying the one I did and didn' t experience anything on either of those either. While setting mine up today, it shot extremely well from start to finish. In fact, I was paper tuned and sighted in within 15 minutes of the first shot (owe it all to my pro). I was really disappointed when I had to leave, I was ready to keep shooting.
Hope that helps.

Thanks guys, the info really helps. I currently have a Q2, that I' m pretty happy with and really can' t see replacing it unless I can find something that offers some overall gain in speed/quietness/shootability. Has anyone had a chance to do a fair (apples-to-apples) comparison with a Q2 or even a Legacy? I know the Hoyt will have a slight speed advantage, but more importantly, will it be as quiet, recoil/vibration free and have a draw cycle as nice as the Q2 or Legacy? Thanks.

i have never shot a Q2 but the best way to express the new cam 1/2 for me is draw, close your eyes, hit the release, and you wont even know you shot until you here the bow hit the floor. i shot the razortec and the ultratec and bought the ultratec(i wanted a longer bow) the ones i tested were out of the box with a rest added. i have a 2001 magnatec and the grip on it is bigger. the smaller grip on the 2003 i need to get used to or just buy the bigger one for the new bow. hope this helps

I haven' t shot the RazorTec or hardly any of the other Tech-y bows, mostly because they don' t keep anything even close to my draw length on the rack at the shops around here. I shoot the mildest bow in Hoyt' s entire lineup, the ProTech with LXPro limbs and Accuwheels. It does have an odd feel to the recoil, but I' ve always attributed it to that cheezy self-grip and with splinters of wood for side plates. Metal is REAL good at conducting vibration into your hand.
Anyway, my bow is NOWHERE NEAR a match for the Q2 or Legacy in lack of recoil, even shooting arrows that weigh out at 9.7 grains per pound! (It' s nowhere near the match of my old SuperSlam in that category either.) But when I shot the Q2XL, I swear I never felt the bow. It was a shocking experience! I' ve been shooting compounds for a quarter of a century and had never shot a bow that felt like that before.
I just wish Mathews made something in my draw length.

I shot a Razortec cam and 1/2 at Cabela' s yesterday. 73#, 350 gr arrows (The guy behind the counter picked the arrows
) and I noticed very little recoil and was impressed with how quiet it is. I love the grip.....That TEC riser is STILL ugly though.....SMOOTH is how I would describe the cam and 1/2.....

I think the razortec is one of the best bows, or the best , i have shot in a long time.
I feel it will be the perfect hunting bow.
I am real impressed with the cam and 1/2, shot noise is very low, and recoil , i feel is also non exsistant.
My bow is set up at 58# 320 grn arrow, 27.5 draw. It is shooting 280fps.
I think that is respectable.
The only thing i did was order a winnerschoice string for it, so the peep won' t rotate.
