Default Bow would not tune

Switched from a Whisker Bis. to a Trophy Taker. The set up would not tune. I had the rest moved as far as I could go to the right and still get clearance.

Of course I was beyond frustrated.

I put the bow in the vice and just looked at it for probably 15 minutes and then it hits me. I only have one string leach on the bottom. I shot the other one off some time ago.

I took the leach out and a short time later, I was shooting bullet holes through the paper. I actually had to move the rest out to the left.

When I weighed the leach, it is very close to 3 grains. Before I would have not believed that 3 grains would have made that much difference, but now I am a believer.

I wonder if this phenomenon is due to the weight of the string leech on the bottom only; or the uneven shortening of the string that running only one string leech causes? Overall, I wouldn't have thought it would have made that much difference to run only the bottom string leech . . . . .

If any of this is true then Hoyt has some issues. Most all their 2008 bows are sold with a bottom string leech only.
