Hi Everyone..

I am completely new to bowhunting- September will be my first crack at hunting deer with a bow. I have had my bow set up by the local archery shop, and now I am ready to practice, practice, practice. I am looking for some advice on good archery targets..

any ideas? Thanks!

If you want to spend the money, then get the Morrell Range bag target. It's more expensive than the little bags, but should last a very long time. They're a common type at many archery clubs. This would be for field points only.

For a broadhead target the Morell Yellow Jacket is a good one at a reasonable cost. DON'T shoot field or target points into this as it's bit** getting them out. This things is for bvroadheads only. Says so right on the target.

Better yet, find a local club that has things already set up for you and join it. You get the added benefit of meeting people of like mind and interests. Make new friends and shooting buddies and get a lot of good free advice if you pick the right people. This usually means the better 3D and target shooters.

Block 4x4.

It really depends on how much you want to spend and what kind of target you want to shoot. 3d targets are usually fairly expensive, any of the good ones are usually over $100. I'm notoriously cheap so I buy an inexpensive Block style target and when i want to shoot at a deer shaped target i get one of those $5 cardboard deer cutouts and put that in front of the block target and shoot at it. Haha it looks a little hick-ish but it works for me. Joining a club that shoots 3d, or getting some buddies together to pool expenses and getting a couple different targets are all good ideas too.

Went out today at lunch to look for a new target, ****'s Sporting Goods had a couple models on clearance. Walked out with a bag target for $5. If it lasts thru the month it'll be worth it.
