Cutting down arrows..
Now that the "off season" is here I've been toying around with the idea of making my own arrow saw using my Drimel and some pieces of wood I have laying around..anyway, sincemy arrows currently have inserts installed what would be the problem with cutting the excess shaft from the nock end? I'll also be refletching these arrows. Thanks upfront for any input.

Invest in an arrow spinner. I buy shafts and cut them myself. I cut off both ends of the shaft. The truest part of the shaft is in the center. IMO. and get a G5 arrow squaring device, if you cut your own.
What are your inserts glued in with? I use hot melt so I can remove or adjust if needed.

If you know someone with a machine lathe, you can cut an arrow very precisely by spinning the shaft with the lathe while you cut the arrow with a dremel tool. The dremel needs to be mounted in the tool post of the lathe, parallel with the shaft;and you want to use a diamond cut off wafer. Need to clean up the carbon dust afterwards.

hey, if you want to take a look at my arrowsaw/spinner, go to flickr.com and do a people search on m9a9g9i9c, there are some pics I took of the selfmade finished product.
all my pics are mixed, so you might have to do some searching, maybe I'll post'm on later.....
