Looks like Mathews positioned the LX squarely against Hoyt's Cybertech. And then made a general marketing move against Bowtech with the speed claim. I haven't seen spec's on the new Black Max3 but I doubt it'll have much in terms of shootability. It's sort of like well we have fast bows too why don't you look at the rest of our product line. I wonder if folks who were considering the Patriot Dually would consider the LX? I wouldn't think so but maybe for loyal Mathews guys who want a little more speed? These guys are very good at marketing.

The other thing that the LX does for Mathews is that it fills out their product line. They've got plenty of offerings in that 34 ATA 7.5 BH area and but for a faster bow one would have to jump up to the Ultra, but then the braceheight was a bit on the low side. This bow fills in the space in between nicely for them. I think that they had to do this as a sort of answer to the Patriot dually.

It seems to me that this year the Patriot dually is the bow(And I'm definitely a Mathews guy). But I'm not sure. Frank seems to be MIA, maybe you folks could comment on your thoughts between the Patriot dually and the Mathews LX.

Incidentally I have an MBA in marketing so I'm fascinated by this stuff.

Buckfevr, honestly Mathews wasn't pushing the Black Max very much. They where too busy pushing the LX & Conquest 3. Never once did they offer to show me the BM out of the several times I was at their booth.

Orions Bow,

Did you get a chance to shoot the Patriot Dually? How would you compare it to the Mathews LX?

yes I did shoot it. I honestly liked the Xtreame VFT much better but that is just my perception. The pat dually is a great bow and was smoking the arrows. I also shot the BK2 and it smokes too. I like single cams better so I really didn't try playing with the Pat dually too much.

The mathews lx was a awsome bow too, really refined version of a mathews bow.

Orions_bow,

Did you shoot the LX? If so how would you compare it to the Extreme VFT?

Not really , still no dual cams!

I'm not the least bit impressed by their LX add! It looks more like their resorting to desperate tactics. JMO , dont let it get your boxers in a bunch.

Buckfevr I really liked both bows but honestly I can't compair the too. They are both unique & really are designed for different purposes.

the Extreme VFT is simply awsome, it smokes. It is a great bow and is a real winner when it comes to speed. I did like it better than the BK & the PDC. it did have some hand shock but nothing bad. I enjoyed shooting it and found it truely a pleasure to shoot. I liked it so much I have one on the way now! I hope to get it soon, will keep you posted on what it does. my only complaint (not with the bow either)....bowtechs quivers are not as well made as mathews....I hope they correct that soon!

The LX is a nice bow it isn't designed with speed as it's major feature. It is a really nice drawing and shooting bow and honestly isn't designed to be a hot rod. It has no hand shock, is really queeit, and the new cam is smooth. I also liked the choice between 65 & 80% let offs. Like I said it is a refined version of the mathews bows, not the fastest in the world but one of the best feeling to shoot I have seen. lets just say I really liked it!

both are winners and well worth looking into. woudl I pick one over the other? not sure, I guess I need both!

I apologize for not getting to your thread sooner but there was a death in my family and I was not on at all during this past weekend.

Yes, the Cybertech and LX look to be pitted against one another in terms of specs on paper. I, obviously, haven't had the opportunity to hold, not to mention shoot, an LX so I can't comment on how they will feel in comparison to one another. I do agree that the LX seems to fit the niche between Mathews' speed bows and their mid-speed, mid-forgiveness level bows like the Q2, Legacy, etc... I do think that the LX will be comparable to the Cybertec and Patriot DC if we are trying to compare bows from all three companies in terms of general specs...axle to axle length (somewhat on speed and brace height), etc...

One has to take into consideration though that both the Cybertec and LX both are approximately 15 fps slower than the Patriot DC with almost a full inch less of brace height. But, the tradeoff in the case of the Cybertec (and probably the LX) will be a smoother draw cycle. This is where an individual's personal tastes really come into play as each person has different expectations in this regard.
