depends on what manufacturer. some say sight in at 20 yds and you're good out to 40.
I personally use an older model Tru Glo, sight in at 20 yds and I"m pretty much dead on out to 30-35.
With a single pin sight at ground level all you have to do is either hold over or hold under and it takes practice to be able to read your yardage.

I love my Predator IV. Once set up its deadly from any height out to 35-45 yards depending on arrow speed ect. I've used it for 7 years, on 6 different bows. It takes longer to set up but IMO it's well worth the time and effort. I take 1 look at a deer, decide if it's in range or not and shoot. No guessing yardage, compinsating for tree stand height just concentate on shot placement.Wouldn't hunt with anything else.
