I use Trophy Ridge Mantis, love it. Im a fan of pendulums that lock out for ground shooting as well. Works good for the type of hunting I do.Tree stands, tree stands, and more tree stands.

I use the "keller" sight and love it when hunting from a stand, not very good from the ground.

Use the Summit Hot Dot, it isn't metal but I think it is rugged enough for hunitng. He should at least look at it, there is a review about it on here somewhere. I bought one but haven't shot it yet, as soon as I give it a test run I will post my review.

Truglo makes a nice one - with slider.

Fuse also makes a pendulum that's pretty nice (it's what I have on my bow). The pendulum swing is an option that you have to order from a Fuse Dealer.

The Fuse pendulum is lockable, and has a built-in level. I really like mine. I researched the heck out of this, and these two look like the two best options. The Truglo has a brighter pin, but I don't think it locks into place. The fuse is more expensive, but has a level and locks. I picked mine off ebay for $50.
