Changing Draw Length with Release Aid

Changing Draw Length with Release Aid
In speaking with a guy in a bow shop recently we were discussing draw length versus release aid. While theoretically this makes sense, I am not 100% sure it is right. I have a 27” draw length. We discussed using a shorter release to increase draw length. That makes sense in theory, but I wasn’t sure it actually would work. As long as the anchor point is still the same, I would imagine it would be correct. Thoughts?

Look at it this way, would your draw length change if the release were6 inches long.
Everything you do to the back end changes either your draw length, anchor or both.

A shorter release may let you increase the draw length of the bow, but this isn't good most of the time. What normally happens is you throw your body out of alignment by stretching out the body too far. Yes, you'll gain some speed at the expense of accuracy.
You should never compromise accuracy by changing or adding draw length to the bow. There is not a set draw length that works for averybody of equal stature either. You find the correct draw length by doing a lot of experimenting (takes years) and adjusting about 1/8" at a time till you find a sweet spot. That will be found when you can aim more solid with less moving around on the target without much effort. It's more complex than just this, but it sure has nothing to do with just the length of the release. It's really more a matter of body alignment, which is a combination of draw length and release length.

That was more or less what I was thinking, there had to be other outside factors that would be impacted, it could not possibly be that simple. Thanks.
