Spine?
#1
Help answer my dumb quesstion. I guess eveyone has to learn sometime. Can you explain what you are looking for in spine? How stiff of an arrow do you want? Does it depend on your setup? More than just your bow? How do I know what I need? Thanks in advance!

The spine that you will need will depend on a few things, for the most part.
1. Draw weight.
2. Draw length.
3. Weight of broadhead used.
4. Length of shaft.
I have a 27.5" draw length, draw weight of 71#, use a 125grn fixed broadhead and shoot a 27.2" shaft.
I actually have to use easton axis st 340's, even though easton claims that I should be good with the 400's, but from actual shooting and tuning, the 340's are the ones that work.
So you have factors that get you in the ball park and then actual shooting with your set-up and tweeking will help guide you from there.

John,
Red Lion has nailed it down for you. And looking at your signature I'd say you're pretty close, too. You could maybe shoot a 400 spine, but generally speaking if you err with carbon arrows it's better to be on the stiff side.
And never ask a dumb question. There aren't any. You'd be dumb if you didn't ask. Helping others learn is what a lot of do on the forums. Always eager to pass along what we've learned.
