Dan: Sorry to hear the problem persists. Have you tried to put the original string and cables back on? When you are getting a tear, it seems like it is in a vertical, rather than horizontal direction. Is that accurate? If so, it does not seem like it could be anything like cam lean. I also agree that if it tuned before, it does not sound like arrows or limb twist could suddenly be a problem. Is the ATA and brace correct according to specs? Could the problem be something a simple as thicker serving and a tight nock fit on the replacement string? Other issues? What rest was on it before? Did you put any twists into the down cable if you are hooking your drop away to the down cable? I know, grasping at straws, but I'm still hoping you can get on here and say, "Hey, it was this, and now everything is OK."

I've been watching this thread for a while now. Wash, if the only thing thats changed is the strings and cables, it has to be that. Do you know for sure they are the correct lengths? I'm not sure what they're supposed to be as they don't put them on the sticker any longer. A quick call to Bowtech should yeild them. Take one off at a time and measure them. Twist or untwist accordingly until they are the right length. Be sure to to stretch them out has tight as possible to get the lengths. Put them back on, then check ATA, BH, Tiller and cam timing. Max the bow out and check the poundage. Get everything back to exact specs, then start from there.

Boy, I feel like I’m at work. It's the old "it was working fine" before I changed something and now it don’t work. 99% of the time it’s what you changed. As long as you did not break or bend some thing when working on your bow (re: limbs, riser, axel, ect). Look at the string. This is why when I replace my string & cables. I don’t take any thing off it , that way Ican always go back.

I haven't had an opportunity to shoot it any farther than 20 yards, but here's what she's doing currently...

I shot this about 10 minutes ago.

Aside from needing to move my sight down just a tad, I'm fairly happy with this.

I also haven't had a chance to shoot with both field points and broadheads yet either, so I'll wait until I have a chance to do that too before I start feeling much better.

I can't believe you'd even post a picture of those arrows like that, how embarassing to be shooting that far off. Come on Dan I think your being a tad bit anal about it now.

It hasn't been fixed, the bow still isn't tuned properly.

She still tears a bit off.

All this proves is that paper tuning can cause more headaches than its really worth.

Call me something of a perfectionist.

The only reason I'm worried about the paper tearing now is because I'm not sure how it will affect my broadheads at longer ranges. If it kicks one way or the other I don't want it affecting penetration at, say, 60 yards.

That's why I'm a firm believer inFrench or walk back instead of paper. I've had so many people tell me to not even worry about paper tuning because of the headache it can cause. Did French on last tuning season and for kicks shot it through paper. perfect hole. But when I tried just paper I couldn't get it right.

60 yards?? Can you guarantee a perfect hit at 60 yards? Maybe a perfect aim, hold and shot execution but the actual hit might be,, somewhat less than perfect if the stars don't align for you
