That is a very interesting design and I like the explanation you provided. If they are currently for sale then I may have to pick one up to see how well it works with my setups.

Same here, exactly.
When I took the silencers off my Guardian, I only picked up 1 fps, but it wasn't any louder.
I do have the STS and love it.

I experienced the same reduction in sound when I removed my string silencers. The noise went from a higher pitch to a deeper and lower sound.
