Guardian Serving Wear
#1
Is anyone else having this separation of the serving on their Guardians. I have it on both cams and it has about 300 shots thru it. I am going to contact the shop tomorrow to see what they think.

I've got about 400 shots on mine and no problems. It did have to be retuned a couple days ago. I guess a little string stretch. I usually put these special strings that Len get on my bows because they just don't stretch but stuck with the factory string for now. It should be pretty well stretched in by now. Again, I have no separation but it's a common thing on all bows. You're going to have a little and unless it starts to come apart should be no problem. I'm shooting heavy arrows, maybe shooting light things aggrevates the problem.[&:]

I have a Drenalin, but I had a similar issue with the serving. I'm new to bowhunting, and I was worried. My pro shop owner said it was normal for stock strings and just pushed the serving together, melted the frayed ends, waxed the repaired spot and said I was good to go.
I saw a subject not too long ago about whether or not waxing the serving was a good idea. Since I started waxing the serving, it's really reduced the wear on it.

Whats the deal....serving seperation, string stretch. $700-$800+ for a new bow and they are blaming it on "stock strings" I have had my bowsince 2000 and only had to have theharness replaced due to a little wear. I ordered a string and a harness and went to the bow shop to have them installed, he told me my string was in great shape, so just replaced the harness. I have shot my bow a ton and have always keptthe string/harnesswaxed and have never had any problems with the string. For that price can't they just go ahead and put on the best strings that are avalible on?So am I missing something here? Are they installing the best strings and this is just a "common" problem?I can deffinitley understand a little stretch, butIMO for the price of a new bow this shouldn't even be an issue! Maybe it's just me though

Just put my 1000's shot on my Guardian last night, have a Commander with about 300 on it and so far no sign of that at all. In fact, with my Guardian I have not had to twist the string to align the peep what-so-ever. I use the G5 Meta-Peep which doesn't have an alignment tube and really like it. Impressed very much with the strings so far. No stretch at all! At this point, when it's time to replace them, I'd get the Bowtech again.

I'm sorry, but Crutch, reading your reply is like finding the miracle bow. If you've shot a bunch as you say for 6 or 7 years and don't think your string has stretched, whoa nellie, it's beauty. The other though is, your bow is so far out of tune after 6 or 7 years from shooting the original strings you don't know what you're missing. ALL factory strings stretch... some more than others. Usually they're pretty well settled in after a couple hundred arrows. Bowtech happens to have one of the better factory strings. Frankly, there are some expensive bows sold that have crap on them. I also can't believe a ProShop would tell you to keep that 6 or 7 year old string on there. It's way past due for a change if you shoot just a moderate amount.

David,
I know my string has stretched some and I understand that they all will. I have had theDW adjustedone or twotimes. When I ordered string/harness for my bowI received strings thatcameblack. The one I had on there was alot nicer looking. He just mentioned that the string was still in good shape and if I wanted to leave it on there and try it. He did add a few twist to it and reinstalled it and the new harness. We adjusted for the poundage I shoot and I was back in business.I told him I will try it and may come back to install the new one. It still is shooting great groups. I'm not shooting the full DW of the bow, so maybe there was some room for adjustment. I did state that I understand the string stretch, I was just more concernedabout the serving seperation. Just seems like I hear more and more about string issues on some of these top end bows. I'm not nocking any of these bows because I have shot some of them and they are very nice shooters and hopefully I will be able to upgrade soon. I was just curious as to a couple older post, as new strings were recommended for fairly new bows...thats all!
