Default Kinetic Energy

I just received my bow from huntersfriendfriend.com. The tech states the kinetic engery of the shaft is 50.2 ft-lbs.

The shaft is a Easton St Epic at 27.25", draw weight is 60 lbs. The fletch is their 4" offset at 5 degrees right, and tip grain is 85.

The tech states an arrow kinetic engery figure of 50.2, but I cannot see this as factual...

According to the Easton calculator, my shaft weighs 8.7 x 27.25= 237 + 85 for the tip = 322, plus 10 for the nock = 322 + 4 x 3 for the fletch = 344 and bow Chronograhpic test best speed at 241 fps.

I get a reading of 44.38 from the calculator. I am missing something other than the HIT insert figure?

Also, is an 85 grain tip going to dispatch a whitetail in a formidable fashion?

Thanks.

I'd get an actual weight on the finished arrow and you have to include the insert.

If you hit him in the vitals at a reasonable distance: yes.
If you don't: no. It's that simple. Worry more about making a good shot and less about KE.

That is pretty much the kinetic for the specs you've given.
You'll have absolutely no problem killing a whitetail with that set up, once the arrow hits the vitals.
