I use a three pin simply because there are to many other things going thru my brain when I'm up in a tree that I don't want to have to think about any last minute/second adjustments when a deer presents itself.
To me, this is exactly the reason to use 1 pin. You set it at 25, or so, and forget about it. If the deer comes in farther out, you usually have time. I shot a small buck on Saturday, as he was moving across a small cut field. I could see his line and guessed 30 yards. I slid me sight just a bit, to my 30 mark. He stepped into the lane, BAM. He went all of 37 steps. This is my first year using a slider and I love it. I shoot open for 3D, so I am totally coverted to one pin. Try one.

I shoot a pendelum /slider from Impact archery(All terran). It has a slider arm and a pendelum head. Works great as I can shoot out to 50 yards. I hit a fat doe with this set up @ 47 yards. I was 20 feet in my treestand. She only went 15 yards and piled up. Clean pass thru double lung hit.
Now for 3-d Shoots I lock the head down and I havefour marks 25-35-45 and a 50.
Check out this site you will love it.
