Default Broadhead penetration question

I have been shooting my broadheads for a few days now and other than a slightly lower point of impact they fly just like the field points. But what I've noticed is that after the arrow hits the target the fletching end of the arrow is often not pointed straight back at me as the field points are. This has got me wondering... Is this something to do with the dull (practice) broadhead going through the layers of the target? I'm using a layered "Black Hole" target. Has anyone else noticed this sort of thing? I'm wondering if it effects the way my arrow will penetrate on an animal. The arrows seems to slide as far through the target as the field points. I'm just curious I guess....!

What you may be looking at is a tuning issue. Maybe your nocking point is a little too high. You said your arrows are hitting lower than field tips. This could be the cause. You don't say how far below field tips they are hitting or at what distance, but I would try lowering the nocking point a little at a time to see if things improve. If they do then you're on the right track.

Now, this being done you'll also have to slide your peep and kisser down as much as you moved the nocking point. And probably gang adjust the sight also. For referencebe sure to take measurements of these things prior to any adjusting.

As for penetration, yes, if your arrows are planing or wobbling it can reduce penetration.

It can also be just a matter of an unevenly beat up target. I have different targets out and at the new ones, arrows are perfectly into them, where as sometimes when they hit my block or beat up deer target they are slightly angled. Are they always at the same angle or does it differ?
