I've been shooting muzzy's for the past 9 years. I can't complain they have been real good to me. Last year I had some problems getting them to fly straight and I'm sure that's why I missed the only deer I shot at
.
Now, I'm looking at picking up some mechanicals but don't they all just look a like or what? The thing that worries me most about a mechanical is hitting the shoulder blade square on. I've done this twice with muzzy's and neither deer went very far at all. That's the thing that impresses me the most about Muzzy's. So, what I'm looking for is an expandable that is really good at going through bone.
I tried jak-hammers one year, got the deer but didn't have good penetration. as i'm typing this i see an add at the top of my screen with the guy that recommended the jak-hammers to me, lee lakosky (he used to work at the pro shop by my house. by the way, i'm getting off topic but did anyone see 'getting close' this week, 'aerial bow fishing'. tiffany in a camo bikini top.....rrrrrrrrrrrarrrrrrraaarrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!
anyway, broadhead advice....
Any ideas?

Rack,
Your flight problemmay not in the head. If your bow is not tuned and your arrow are not matched to your set up going to mechanicals is like putting a Band-Aid over a bullet hole. It covers up a problem that is still there.K.E. will suffer and it will still shoot poorly.
That being said, I have used Rocket Steelheads with great results and my son still shoots them. Ishot Puckett's Bloodtrailers when they first came out and took two does with them but God only knows how I didn't loose both of them. Puckett'saretrash.
There are some more good ones I am sure but I can only tell you about the ones I have personally used.

I'll be bringing my bow in to get tuned this weekend. There is something funny going on. It might just be with the blazers i used last year. those arrows fly extremely bad, but the same arrow with 4" vanes fly awesome.
Even when I get the bow tuned up (assuming there is something wrong), I'm going to buy a set of mechanicals. The extra confidence goes a long ways.
What are some of the popular mechanicals? What i'm looking for is a popular (proven) mechanical that is known for good bone penetration. Also, are mechanicals that much worse then fixed blade at going throw bone? My muzzy's are awesome!!!

If you want a great mechanical go for the rockey mtn snyper. The reward opening blades save lots of KE and are sharp. The cut on contact tip has good penetration as well. Ive killed all 3 animals i shot w/ that head. Good blood trail and a mean wound.
That said, you should get your bow tuned. I switched back to fixed heads this year. I spent hours upon hours tuning and fine tuning my bow. It shoots mechs just as accurately as my fixed heads. I get 2" groups at 35 yrds. with all heads.
I do carry a few rocky snypers cause its still a good head.

I think a tune up will help. The Steelheads by Rocket have never let me down. Stay clear of anything made by Puckett's. There are no broadheads (in my opinion) that will bust bone as good as a fixed.
The Muzzy's shot like darts from my 270 fps High Country Brute Force but were tough to get to fly out of my 300+ HoytSupertec. I kept tweeking until I got it perfect and now am satisfied with the performance.
I shoot fixed because that is one less thing to go wrong but with all the good new expandables out there you should be able to find something that will work for you.

I like the Grim Reaper exspandables. They have a hardened tip and also have small blades in the tip to start the cutting and the exspandable blades line up with these small blades resulting in excellent penetration.
