I think I would rather have the velcro than the buckle type. Haven't had any problems with the velcro.

I use to have a velcro strap on my mongoose, and never really noticed it that much, untill i bought a tru-ball with a buckle. One: No noise. Two: Less creep in the length. Once you get a buckle set, it wont move as much as with a buckle.

A new velcro release strap does make a bit of noise at first, but after it broken in, it's just as silent as a buckle strap. I use a velcro because I can adjust the wrist strap snug everytime--I find with the buckle strap, somedays it loose around the wrist, using the same hole, other days it works ok--I don't have this problem with the velcro strap.
