Default Fixed or Mech.?

Okay, I was wondering which would really be better, fixed or mech. broadheads? I have been doing pretty good with fixed, but got to thinking about mech.s. I mean the do closley protray a fieldpoint so I figure the accuarcay should be that of what you get w/fieldpoints. Or am I thinking to far into it? Because I am thinking of going to mech. I shoot 2213 @ 28", bow is 58# peak. What do you all think? And as always, Thanks in advance.
Smoky.

You failed to give us your arrow speed so we can't estimate you KE. This in turn makes it difficult to suggest a mech. But if your set-up generates at least 50 ft/lbs of KE then you could use a smaller cutting mech ( 1 1/8" Steelhead)). If that KE exceeds 60 ft/lbs then use a big cutting diameter mech like the GK Reaper or Rocket Hammerhead. You will find that a mech truly is field point accurate. But please understand that using a mech should be NO substitue for a perfectly tuned bow. You need that arrow flying as straight as possible to improve your penetration.

Well Cornfed, if you can give me a formula or something to figure the arrow speed,I will be happy to give you that info since I dont have a chrono. But what I can tell you is that I use 100 gr. heads that have 11.0-11.25 FOC. And getting that arrow straight as possible is why I am asking as well as the accuarcy, I totally agree with you on that! Thanks again, and hope what I did provide helps more, and hopefully i can figure that arrrow speed.

What particular bow do you shoot, that way we can formulate a fairly accurate estimate. Thanks.

Hi Smoky, I knwo th ebow you are talking about. I woudl shy away from mechanicals with it. I would say the best head for you would be something like a phantom, steelforce, or bear razorhead lite. any of those will work with your setup, the only problem is that the deer might not like it!

I'd stay away from mechanicals with that set-up. If you are going to try one anyway I'd go with a Rocket Steelhead 100, but once again, stick with fixed or cut on impact.

Good Luck!

PRACTICE....PRACTICE....PRACTICE......SUCCESS!
