Say I wanted to get a new bow..and my choices were

I'm glad to see that you may be returning to bowhunting after your recent implied hiatus. I take it this thread means you sold the Switchback.
One thought that comes to mind and has already been mentioned is the cam & 1/2's adjustability. Seems like this option would help you sell this bow by opening up to a larger buying base than a cam that is draw length specific.
Aside from that I know nothing of the two bows except those who own them love them.
I too will be watching this thread to see where it goes. I've often wondered how the two cam systems compare to each other.

I wanted a Ultratec so bad for the last two years. Well, this year I finally got a new bow. I narrowed it down to the Ultratec, Allegiance, and the Switchback. After shooting all of them I bought the Switchback. I thought the Ultratec was the worst of the three. That is just my opinion. The Ultratec was a nice bow. Not what I expected. I liked the Allegiance also, but decided on the Switchback because it was 100 bucks cheaper than the Allegiance. The Ultratec is more adjustable, but to me that is its only advantage. I should have shot that Old Glory, I bet its a very nice bow. Good Luck!!

No "BT sucks" or "Hoyt sucks" posts please...or other brand suggestions for that matter, as those are the bows I have narrowed down to.
....sorry but you were just beggin' for it with your original post.My opinion? I do like the E-cam over the Cam.5 for the very advantages that it is advertised for. I think having both cams slaved to each other makes alot of sense. Tuning the Old Glory was a breeze initially. I haven't touched the cams since I started shooting the bow. They are slightly out of time, maybe an eigth of an inch, but still in synch with one another.
For next year's version of it though I would like a slightly wider valley and some type of rotating modular or replacement modular draw length adjustment system on it. I tinker with my draw length too much to settle for a cam design that doesn't offer much in that regard.
I have no means to measure nock travel but considering how easily the bow tuned both with fieldpoints and fixed blade broadheads I cannot imagine that is is much of an issue.
Hope this is what you were looking for.

Thanks Russ..

I guess my question now is..
Would you havea suggestion as to ways I can improve my Kinetic Energy for hand launched arrows if I *do* get out to the woods this fall?

3/4 inch rebar will yield the best K.E.

I went through the same situation. I ended up with the Hoyt Vtec for a couple of reasons, one was how the bow felt in my hands, the 2nd was how adjustable the cam and a half is. The bowtech is nice, but not as adjustable and since I like to play with stuff the Hoyt was the natural choice for me. So far it's been a nice bow, super quiet, fast, easy to shoot etc. If I ever get time I am going to write up a review on it, my first attempt at a bow review, but it won't be as long or boring as someone else's I used to read

Those would be know as SPEARS,, very effective at VERY short range, very durable and you won't develop target panic

Jeff,
If I know you, you'll buy both anyway so if you do you should probably get the Hoyt first because once you have the Allegiance you won't want to get rid of it.

anyhoo....Sale is pending on the SB...I'm waiting on payment...but I'm startin to get a little worried I won't be getting it. Regardless, the SB is too much bow for the time being since I basically have shot only 30-50 arrows in the past year. I need something a bitmore forgivingto get back into the groove with....SB is not nearly as easy to shoot as the OB was.
