I would at a minimum ask for my money back. That isn't even a good mount besides the fact that it ain't your cape.

To me, it just doesn't look natural. Plus the hair sticking out on the throat is bad. I just wouldn't be happy with it. Hopefully the OP didn't drop a lot of $$ on it.

I suppose each person's perception of "not bad" is different.

As for the cape you got, while it may not be yours, it doesn't appear to me to be that small. When you choose a pose where the deer's neck is stretched upright like a giraffe it's not going to look as big as it did scrunched down in the back of a pickup. The cape you received is definitely larger than any doe I have ever seen...ever. It is a buck cape, and I would guess probably about average size for a mature deer. Magis is right on, I would be way less worried about the color and size of the cape, and way more worried about the rest of that travesty someone calls a deer mount. Sometimes it takes getting burned to realize there are differences from one taxidermy shop to another.

Its small trust me I have a 13 point right next to it and when I look at this 8 its a shame, was never scrunched in the back of any pick up,it was a buck in full rut.I didn't really get burned I only paid 150.00 to try to answer some of the other questions I am not going to bother trying to get a refund and the cape is already been put on another buck,i am just glad it wasn't a monster buck from now on I will be paying a higher price for a better quality mount.

For $150 I think you got a bargain. I can't buy enough supplies to mount one for that.

Ha wow. Don't mean to make this sound the wrong way at all and hope you dont take this the wrong way but c'mon, for 150 what do you expect? I'd say you got what you paid for in this situation.

I hate to be honest as well. You got what you paid for. Search ebay for capes. I picked on up a couple years ago. It was a large cape at 22" at the small of the neck. Got it for around $100.
