As for the cape you got, while it may not be yours, it doesn't appear to me to be that small. When you choose a pose where the deer's neck is stretched upright like a giraffe it's not going to look as big as it did scrunched down in the back of a pickup. The cape you received is definitely larger than any doe I have ever seen...ever. It is a buck cape, and I would guess probably about average size for a mature deer. Magis is right on, I would be way less worried about the color and size of the cape, and way more worried about the rest of that travesty someone calls a deer mount.
Sometimes it takes getting burned to realize there are differences from one taxidermy shop to another.
