Default Elk mount!! To big to get in house.

I have a 6x6 340 class bull mount. I used to live in a house with vaulted ceilings, but our new home is to small for him. I have seen some elk mounts where the antlers are removable. Is it possible to take an existing mount and make his antlers removable?

yes it is.when your taxi mounts it. he can do it either way, mount it then do the pegs, or set the base on the form cut under the burrs then drill and install the pegs.
just get ahold of a taxi and they will take of it for you!
thats a nice problem to have![8D]

I have a very narrow entry door at my studio, its an extra passage door I have it small for that very reason...if I can pass a mount thru it, the mount should go through most doorways in homes. This door is only 32" opening. I can pass most elk and even 70" moose thru it. I of course have two sets of double doors for the big stuff, but my point is, that big stuff CAN get thru those openings if you do it right. Try standing the elk up nose up, and wrap one antler, then the mount, then the other antler thru. It works, unless theres a second door immediately following, or obstructions on both walls following that door. Try that before paying a taxidermist to relax the hide around one antler burr, cutting the antler off, pinning and restoring. Like I said, almost all of those huge elk will still go thru...
